VANCOUVER ART GALLERY ASSOCIATION
CASUAL POSITION AVAILABLE
Graphics Installer

DUTIES:
Reporting to the Audio Visual Technician III, the incumbent assists the Designer for Exhibits, Graphics and Production in the preparation and installation of graphic and signage materials for gallery exhibitions, programs and wayfinding.

Responsibilities include all physical handling of graphic materials to be used for display or installation; installation of large-scale printed, adhesive-backed mural graphics; installation of large and small-scale die-cut vinyl lettering. Also includes preparation of all graphic output materials including vinyl weeding and masking; mounting, trimming and organizing small-scale signs and artwork labels; cutting and preparation of various substrates; following technical drawings and floorplans; devise and implement custom signage systems; working with other technicians engaged in exhibition preparation and installation.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Post Secondary courses in graphic production, media or visual arts and/or a minimum of one year of experience in graphic/signage installation and preparation is required. Demonstrated experience with mural graphics installation, cut vinyl mounting, and work in the visual arts field are assets.

As a graphics installer, you will be knowledgable of a variety of graphics materials and substrates including adhesive-backed vinyls and paper, dibond, sintra, foam core etc. Skill and knowledge required in the handling of manual and power tools for measuring, cutting and mounting materials. Experience and safety in working on ladders, scaffolding and mechanical lifts is required. Scissor lift certification is an asset. Applicants must demonstrate an attention to detail and ability to follow directions ensuring high quality work; an efficiency to work within a compressed timeline in a fast paced environment; excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team. The successful applicant will have proficient knowledge and skills in basic office software. Woodworking and construction experience is also an asset.

SALARY: Pay Grade 18 Step 1 $23.02 per hour plus 10% in lieu of benefits

HOURS: This is casual on-call work during normal business hours. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
